二、从属连词
1. 引导时间状语从句的连词有：
when, while, as, since, before, after, once, as soon as, the moment, by the time, each time/every time, soon after/shortly after, till/until等。
When he comes I'll tell him to fetch the police.他来了以后我将让他去喊警察来。
While we were talking,he came in.我们正在谈话时,他进来了。
Since I left college,I have not seen him.自从我离开大学以后,就没有见过他了。
It will be some time before we know the full results.还要过一些时间我们才能知道全部结果。
Once you begin,you must continue.一旦开了头,你就应当继续下去。
The attention of all the audience converged on the screen as soon as the motion picture started.电影一开始,所有观众的注意力就都集中在银屏上。
He would like to pour out some wine for himself the moment he was home.一回到家,他就会先为自己倒点儿葡萄酒。

2. 引导地点状语从句的连词有：where,wherever等。
They live where the police can't get them.他们住在警察抓不到他们的地方。

3. 引导原因状语从句的连词有：because,since,as,now that,seeing that,in that等。
Because I was ill, I didn't go to school yesterday.因为我病了,所以昨天没有去上学。
Since it is late I shall go home now.由于时间晚了,我现在要回家了。
I can't come tonight, as I'm going to a concert.今晚我不能来,因为我要去听音乐会。
I will have to tighten my belt now that I can get no more overtime working.由于我不能再加班加点,我只得节衣缩食。
Seeing that he was a hard worker,he achieved.他辛勤工作,因而取得了成就。
His request is unreasonable in that he knows I can't afford it.他的要求是不合理的,因为他知道我负担不起。
4. 引导目的状语从句的连词有：(so) that,in order that,in case等。
He timed himself so that he would not arrive at his destination too early.他控制自己的步速,为的是不至于过早到达目的地。
They set off half an hour earlier that they might get there in time.他们早出发半小时,以便及时到达那里。
He went into the garden in order that he might look at the flowers.他走进花园想看看花。
I always keep a bottle of wine by in case friends call round.我平时总存放一瓶酒以备朋友来时喝。
5. 引导结果状语从句的连词有：that,so/such...that...等。
Everyone lent a hand that the work was finished ahead of schedule.每个人都帮了忙,所以工作提前完成了。
He was so childish that he couldn't join us.他如此幼稚,以致不能加入到我们当中来。
It was such a lovely day that we decided to go for a picnic.天这么好,我们决定去野餐。
6. 引导比较状语从句的连词有：as,than等。
Things were almost as they had been before.事情还像以前一样。
Don't tell them any more than they need to know.告诉他们的不要超出让他们知道的范围。
7. 引导程度、范围状语从句的连词有：as/so far as。
The desert continues as far as the eye could reach.沙漠向前延伸,一望无际。
She has only one younger sister so far as I know.据我所知,她只有一个妹妹。
8. 引导条件状语从句的连词有：if,unless,supposing (that),provided (that),so/as long as,on condition (that)等。
If you will be so kind as to help me, I can finish by six.如果你愿意帮助我,到6点我就能完成了。
Unless paying by credit card,please pay in cash.如果不用信用卡付账,就请付现金。
Supposing he can't come, who will do the work?如果他不能来,谁来做这项工作呢？

9. 引导让步状语从句的连词有：as,though/although,even if/even though,no matter how/however,no matter what/whatever等。
Intelligent as you are, I suspect you will fail.尽管你聪明,但我猜想你会失败的。
Although my car is very old, it still runs very well.我的汽车虽然很旧,但仍然跑得很快。
The ship weathered the storm though she was badly damaged.这艘船尽管严重受损,却经受住了风暴。
